I've been out of the country for months and don't pay much attention to music trends. How popular is stuff like this in the US?

unbearably popular. it's like a mashup of the worst glitch-dubstep and rap backup beats in one hideous mess. It's not danceable - you can only really pose to this kind of stuff.

I miss deep techno and house music with soul. :/

Like dub step circa 2009/10 popular, less, more? What kind of people listen to this music? I feel weirdly out of touch now.

Unbearably popular? I'd argue against that. Detroit has good house music and shitty dubstep, but no one plays trap.

Ha, well I'm only 20 so I doubt we're speaking across too large of a generational divide. That being said, I can't really imagine this being played at one of my high school dances or something.
